1 - Login to Giftpro
Once you’re logged in, click ‘Vouchers’ in the main navigation bar, then click ‘Categories’ and you will arrive in the categories area.

2 - Create a category
Click the ‘Create category’ button in the top right of the navigation bar and you will arrive on the create category page. If you need to edit an existing category simply click on the line in the main category list.

3 - Category options
Now you're in the category options area where you'll be able to set up or edit the category options to suit your requirements.

3.1 - Category information
Here you can give the category a name (i.e. Black Friday, Christmas, Spa Vouchers etc.) and assign it to the appropriate property.

3.2 - Intro text
Here you can add an optional title and description to each category which will appear on the front end of the store above the product listings.

3.3 - SEO
Here you can edit the SEO settings for your category.

• Permalink - The permalink is the URL extension that appears in the browser. It’s also the link you would use to send people directly to the specific voucher page. I.e. venuename.giftpro.co.uk/category/afternoon-tea. The permalink is automatically generated from the category name but can editable if you wish to change it to something more memorable.

• Image alt text - Add an alternative image description that appears in place of an image on a webpage if the image fails to load on a user's screen.

• Meta title - This is automatically generated based on the category and property name. A meta title is an HTML element that specifies the title of the page which is displayed on search engine results pages as the clickable headline for a given result.

• Meta description - Add a meta description which appears on search engine results page, below the meta title so optimising the meta description is helpful for on-page SEO.

4 - Visibility options
Visibility options allow you to set the status of the category to either live, direct link, draft or by date and time.

• Live and Draft are self-explanatory, but the others have a little more to offer.

• Direct link - This feature allows you to keep a category hidden from the navigation of your store but have it accessible via a direct URL, so if you are putting together an exclusive email campaign full of secret gifts for a segment of your audience to see then this is the perfect way to achieve it.

• Restrict by date and time - Should you wish to set up a category to only appears for a specific date range you can do this here, by simply selecting a start and end date. This feature is most commonly used for promotional events like Black Friday.

5 - Adding a custom image to the header
Adding an image to a category works slightly differently to a product because the category needs to exist before a visual can be uploaded. All this means is that the category needs to be saved and then re-opened. When you do this you'll see the images block appear.

Simply click the category image bar (or drag in your category image) and it will be uploaded. Next, click save and you're all done!
