Setting up added value offers

Give customers more voucher value for their money, for example "pay £25, they get £30".

An added value offer adds a percentage on top of what the customer pays for a monetary voucher. The customer pays £50 and the recipient gets a voucher worth £62.50. You can use one flat percentage, or tiers that give a bigger percentage for bigger spends, and run the offer all the time or for set dates.

If you previously created a separate product to fake this kind of offer, you can now use your normal monetary voucher with an offer on it instead.

Find added value offers

  1. Select your store (property) in the bottom-left of the admin menu.

  2. Go to Products > Added value offers.

Create an offer

Click Create offer.

1. Name and status

  • Name: for your reference only.

  • Status: Draft (saved, not applied), Live (running with no end date) or Scheduled (running between the dates you set; customers see "Offer ends ...").

2. Flat or tiered

Mode

How it works

Flat

One extra % on any amount, for example +20%

Tiered

The % depends on the amount paid. Each tier has From (£), To (£) and Extra value (%). Click Add tier for more rows.

For tiers:

  • Tiers must go upwards and must not overlap.

  • Each tier's % must be higher than the tier before.

  • Leave To empty on the last tier for no upper limit.

  • Gaps are allowed; an amount in a gap gets the lower tier.

3. Amounts and vouchers

  • Preset amounts (£): optional quick-pick buttons, separated by commas, for example 25,50,75,100. Each button shows its extra %.

  • Monetary vouchers this offer applies to: choose one or more. Each voucher can only have one running offer at a time.

4. How it looks in your store

  • Card style: Standard (a normal card with a ribbon) or Featured (a wide card showing the tier table).

  • Show the offer strip under the category header: a banner pointing customers to the offer.

Click Save changes. To remove an offer, click Delete at the top of the page.

What your customers see

  • Category page: a ribbon such as "UP TO 30% EXTRA", "Pay from £25.00 / They get £30.00", and the offer strip if switched on.

  • Product page: "You pay > They get" updating as the amount changes, amount buttons with their extra %, and a nudge to the next tier, for example "Spend £25.00 more and they'll get 25% extra instead."

  • Basket: the voucher value and price, the extra added, and an "Upgrade to £X" button when a bigger amount reaches a better tier.

  • Confirmation email: the voucher value including the extra.

  • The voucher: created with the higher value as its balance.

Good to know

  • Reports show the amount paid. Sales and VAT reports use what the customer paid, not the voucher value.

  • Discount codes: the extra % is worked out on the amount chosen, not the price after a discount.

  • Ending an offer: when an offer ends or is set to Draft, it stops applying to open baskets. Orders already placed keep their extra value.

  • Monetary vouchers only. Other voucher types are not supported.

  • Not the same as bonuses or upsells. An offer raises the value of the same voucher; a bonus is a separate voucher. The upgrade button does not use your upsell slot.

Test before going live

  1. Build the offer as Draft and check it saves.

  2. Set it to Live or Scheduled.

  3. Check the category page, the product page (move the amount across a tier) and the basket.

  4. Place a test order and check the email and the voucher balance.

Ideas to try

  • Black Friday tiers: £25 to £49.99 +20%, £50 to £99.99 +25%, £100+ +30%, scheduled for the sale.

  • Simple flat bonus: +10% on every amount, with preset amounts of £25, £50 and £100.

  • Christmas push: +15% on your main gift voucher, with the featured card and offer strip.

  • Spend more: a single tier, for example £100+ gets +20%.

Troubleshooting

The offer is not showing. Check the status is Live, or Scheduled with today inside the dates; that you are on the right store; and that the voucher is a monetary voucher selected on the offer.

I cannot save the offer. Check tiers do not overlap, go upwards and increase in %; that no other running offer covers the same voucher; that the voucher's maximum is above the first tier's From; and that the end date is after the start date.

The customer got a lower % than expected. The % depends on the amount paid, and amounts in a gap get the lower tier.
