How to setup the integration between Giftpro and Lightspeed POS to enable redemption and sale of vouchers.

1. Short description

The Web Extension for Lightspeed POS is an extension that enables voucher (gift card) handling directly from the Lightspeed POS checkout. It lets staff redeem, top up, and sell vouchers, check balances, and view transaction history without needing a separate external system.

2. Capabilities

The extension consists of 5 main modules:

· Redeem – lets you search for a voucher and apply it to the payment. When possible, the voucher amount is auto-filled by default to match the bill amount.

· Top up vouchers – lets you top up a gift card by a specified amount.

· Sell Voucher – lets you sell gift cards configured in GiftPro directly through the POS.

· Balance – lets you check the current balance of a code.

· History – lets you check a voucher's change history, look up vouchers purchased under a given email address, and resend them.

On the left side of the extension, the Sale column shows the products currently added in the POS, so staff don't need to switch views or remember the amount while redeeming, topping up, etc.

3. Connection instructions

After installing the Web Extension in Lightspeed POS, a few key elements need to be configured for all modules to work correctly.

Setup steps

1. Find the Location ID in Lightspeed.

2. Set that Location ID in GiftPro for the selected location.

3. Add the extension in the Lightspeed Backoffice: Operations → Web Extensions → Create Web Extension.

o Name: any friendly, easy-to-remember name.

o URL: the location's page URL.

o Check "Add JavaScript context to the page".

o Allowed loading domains: add the location's page URL here as well.

4. To make it visible on the POS, add it like any other product, as needed.

5. Create an item in the Backoffice that will represent the gift card. Its item ID is taken from the URL (e.g. /menu-management/items/1441244995649733?from=%7B%7D#details → the number after items/).

o Important: in the item's menu settings, under Additional options → "Allow item to be renamed", make sure this option is unchecked.

6. Go to the POS and open the Web Extension. You should first see a screen prompting for an access token, or a QR code to scan for login. Click Verify and continue.

7. Set the location that should be associated with this POS.

8. Choose the delivery method (preferably one without an address).

9. Fill in the Gift Card catalog item ID.

10. Set the payment code and save.

Key settings

1. Business Location ID

o The identifier of the business location (store/branch) the extension is assigned to.

o Find the Location ID in Lightspeed, then set it in GiftPro for the selected location (see the setup steps above).

2. Payment method

o The payment method used for voucher operations.

o Its id is taken from the URL.

Payment method can be set in a dedicated, custom section in Lightspeed, which makes it easier to identify later.

o (TODO: describe step by step how to extract the id from the URL and where to paste it in the settings)

Note: an incorrect setup of the above values is the most common cause of the issues described in section 4.

Solution

Sale doesn't work (nothing appears in POS after clicking)

Product ID not set in the Web Extension settings

Fill in the Product ID in the extension configuration (see section 3)

Voucher amount doesn't auto-fill on Redeem

No active order/bill total for the POS to read, or auto-fill isn't supported in that flow

Enter the amount manually

Can't log in to the Web Extension on POS

Access token expired/invalid, or QR code not scanned correctly

Re-generate the access token/QR code and log in again, then Verify and continue

Extension doesn't load in POS at all

"Add JavaScript context to the page" not checked, or the location URL missing from Allowed loading domains

Check both settings under Operations → Web Extensions (see section 3)

Staff can rename the gift card item on POS

"Allow item to be renamed" was left checked when creating the item

Uncheck this option under Additional options for the item

History search by email returns no vouchers

Wrong email entered, or the voucher wasn't linked to that email at time of sale

Confirm the exact email used at purchase; check with the customer

What delivery method should I pick when selling a voucher?

Preferably one without an address.

Can I resend a voucher to a customer?
Yes, look it up in the History tab by the customer's email and resend it from there.

What if the voucher amount doesn't auto-fill to the bill total on Redeem?

Enter the amount manually.
